Registration is now open for the CARINA Final Conference – “Unlocking the Potential of Carinata and Camelina in Europe and North Africa”, taking place on 14 October 2026 at the Press Club Brussels and online via livestream.
As CARINA approaches its conclusion, the conference will provide an opportunity to share what the project has learned and, importantly, discuss how this knowledge can contribute to the future development of camelina- and carinata-based farming systems and value chains.
The first will present key CARINA results, highlighting the project’s work on the integration of camelina and carinata into innovative and sustainable farming systems and on the full valorisation of their biomass through circular economy approaches. The programme will also address the wider conditions influencing the development of sustainable bio-based value chains.
The second part of the conference will turn from research to action through moderated roundtable discussions.
The first roundtable will put farmers at the centre of the conversation, asking what it will take for them to adopt camelina and carinata. The discussion will consider practical issues such as economic incentives, market access, agronomic support, risk management and the policy conditions that can facilitate wider uptake.
An industry-focused second rountable discussion will examine the pathway towards scaling sustainable bio-based value chains, considering market opportunities, investment needs, innovation priorities and collaboration across the value chain.
Together, the sessions will connect project findings with the perspectives of those involved in taking new crops and value chains beyond the research stage.
